PPM Folder Access Issue – Read-Only and Permission Settings
Problem
Users are unable to modify files, save changes, or access certain folders within the PPM directory due to incorrect folder attributes or insufficient Windows permissions.
Symptoms

Unable to save files in the PPM folder.

Access Denied errors.
-
Files open as read-only.
-
Users cannot modify or create files within the folder.
Resolution
Step 1: Open Folder Properties

Navigate to the PPM folder in C drive.

Right-click the folder and select Properties.
Step 2: Remove Read-Only Attribute
- In the General tab, locate the Attributes section.
- Unselect Read-only
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
Step 3: Configure Security Permissions

Reopen Properties if necessary.

Select the Security tab.

Choose the Users group from the list of users and groups.

Click Edit.
Step 4: Grant Required Permissions

Under Permissions for Users, enable:

Full Control
-
Modify
-
Read & Execute
-
List Folder Contents
-
Read
-
Write
-
-
Click Apply.
-
Click OK.
Verification
-
Open the PPM folder.
-
Create or modify a test file.
-
Confirm that changes can be saved successfully.

Verify that the folder is accessible without permission-related errors.
Notes

Administrative privileges may be required to change folder permissions.

Ensure permission changes are applied to all subfolders and files if prompted.

If the issue persists, contact the IT Administrator for further investigation.
